ABOUT

A Bit About Me and My Art
I am a Raleigh, North Carolina based abstract artist. My artistic journey began in 2013, after spending more than 30 years in a left-brained career in pharmacy practice, education, and writing. After leaving academia, I began to tap into the dormant right side of my brain to reconnect with my childhood passion for art. While I have no formal art education, I have embraced intuitive exploration, attended numerous workshops, and viewed countless online tutorials (thank you YouTube!) to develop my style. My preferred mediums are oil and cold wax, acrylics, and mixed media, all of which lend themselves to my loosely defined style of abstract expressionism.
My work is greatly influenced by my love for North Carolina's extraordinary beaches, mountains, hills and flat lands. Through a combination of fluid and heavily textured techniques, I strive to encapsulate the essence of nature's vibrant hues and textural nuances. Abstract landscapes and seascapes dominate my portfolio, but recently I’ve begun experimenting with abstract figures and florals. For me, art practice is all about exploration and freedom of expression.
A native of Wilson, North Carolina, I currently divide my time between Raleigh and Atlantic Beach, North Carolina with my partner Charles and my rescue dog, Max.
